Churchill Thorley Lane

Churchill Retirement Living contracted Union Contractors to carry out the works to prepare the site for the development of an apartment complex at Thorley Lane, Timperley, Altrincham.  The site was on the site of a former Baptist Church, which was demolished prior to our works on site.  The development was for a sheltered apartment retirement complex that consisted of 44 apartments with a lift facility.  Works on site included Section 278 and Section 50 works.

Building Foundation and Clearance Works

Prior to beginning the building foundations, the site had to be cleared as it was overgrown with vegetation and tree removal works were required (as well as tree protection works).  The hard standing from the previous development on site had to be broken out and cleared, prior to excavating the site to reduced levels.

A concrete crane base and bases for the mortar silos were constructed prior to the building foundation works.

  • Strip and pad foundations
  • Beam and block flooring
  • Lift pit installation
  • Radon barrier

Drainage Works and Services

All associated drainage requirements were installed to the site for the development, including, storm water below ground drainage, manhole installation, inspection chamber installation, foul water drainage, off site storm water and sewer connections.

Trenches and ducting was installed for all site services, including BT, water, electric etc.

Hard Landscaping and Car Park Works

A large sweeping drive way was constructed and finished with block paviors, as well as all pathways, parking areas, refuse area and patio areas for the development and a boundary wall to the front of the site.  Topsoil was laid in readiness for the soft landscaping on the development.  Offsite public footpath works were carried out along the external area of the development and regular road cleaning was carried out during the development works.
